Trick or Treat in New York

Where Do You Want to Celebrate Halloween This Year?

Here is a thought. What about New York

You would be overwhelmed when trying to find places to go
and things to do in New York during Halloween. Here is where I would go:

The Boo Zoo

This is a must for families which love a bit of adventure combined with a nice day out. Surrounded by wildlife critters, old and young can embark on a haunted safari of enjoy the wildest pumpkin-carving demonstrations.

Youngsters between 3-12 dressed up in a wildlife costume will be allowed Free entrance.

And would you want to miss New York's Village Halloween Parade?

This parade proclaims to give visitors the chance to experience an 'event that is one-of-a-kind'. I can only imagine how colorful and ecstatic it must be. This is definitively a place to go in order to experience a real U.S. American parade. The event starts in the evening at 6 pm of the 31st of October and finishes around 8:15 pm. It takes place on the 6th Avenue in Manhattan.
More than 50,000 participants are expected and over 2 million visitors.

How to get to New York?

That is easy to answer. By boat, plane or Zeppelin. Just kidding. Given the proximity of Halloween you should consider buying a plane ticket.

There are of course plenty of airlines offering trips from London to New York. Not sure if there are still some fairly prices tickets available. However, it is worth giving it a try. Many major airline offer flights on this route. Around £350 to £400 should bring you there and back. Maybe less if you are lucky.
Kind of expensive for only one weekend, though. But what a weekend that would be!

However, you could save some money when picking up your costumes. Use your imagination. I find home-made Halloween costumes are the most creative ones. There are plenty of places you can get inspiration from.

Movies, magazines, websites, wildlife or think of a political figure.

"Celebrating Swine Flu"

One of the funniest costumes I have found is this dressed up dog. Absolutely hilarious and a great choice if you take your pet along.
Accompanied and dressed up accordingly his owner of course.

(picture of dog from FrecklesCassie. Great blog guys and girls!)
(picture with mustache from Late night with Jimmy Fallon)

"In Memory Of Michael Jackson"
He was one of the greatest artists of our time and I am sure he will not mind a little bit of parody.

And finally...."W. is Gone...For Real"
...Unless he comes back from the undead...at Halloween.

By the way. The Michael Jackson picture is of Leigh Francis from one of his shows at BBC. George W. Bush's mask can be found at Forbes.com

However you are going to celebrate Halloween in the end. I hope you all will have

A Happy Scary & Halloween

Where To Go For a Date This Summer

some hints:
  • walking on a riverbank
  • picnick in the local park on a Sunday morning (prepare it yourself)
  • bring you date to your favorite place in town or village and explain her/or him why you think it is the most beautiful place in the world
  • a classical open air concert on the nice summer evening (make sure you are far enough from the music so you can talk)
  • a small boat trip on a lake or river
  • to a small, quite and hidden restaurant

How Difficult Is It To Find A Job in London?

Recently it came to my ears that finding a job in London is very difficult.
In my opinion I found it always very easy in comparison to other places in this world.
It is of course a unpleasant procedure one has to go through.
I guess a better question to answer to yourself is which kind of job would I like to do? What can I do? What am I ok with doing?
Updating your CVs, writing emails to agents, talking to agents, meeting agents. All this costs energy and is a job for itself. Dressing up and showing up at different companies takes the rest. And than the desperate waiting for the phone call. Will it be a YES we want you? Or just another "we found you are a very lovely person, however we have decided to go with someone else".

Anyways, here are some things which crossed my mind while thinking of the how and what to do when you are looking for a job:
  • decide that you want to do it and do it
  • ask around your colleagues or former colleagues
  • update your social network profile
  • keep track in a file which agents you have talked with and what about
  • make sure you have clothes to go for interviews
  • look at every contact as an opportunity to promote yourself (let them know that you exist)
  • try to budget (how much money do I have and how desperate do I need to be)
  • try to continue socializing
  • tell yourself and others that you are self employed (NOT unemployed)
  • if you start getting depressed think about how much more difficult it is in other places
  • take everything with a smile (it could be worse)

Swine Flu - The Art of Manipulation

Yes, my dear followers ...The End is near. The press and media made it clear that we are all going to go to Swine Heaven. Hopefully dressed up in a pink dress. Didn't you read it yet?
We are all lost...unless.....you buy something which will save you!
Yes, In the last hours of your time on earth one can even enter competitions like win a swine flu cake

Let me just make one important statement before I continue. I feel terribly sorry for all the victims of this flu so far and I do not intend to hurt the feelings of relatives which are now in a time of suffering. I do not deny that Swine Flu exists and that it might become a pandemic.

However, come on people!!! I am the only one who thinks that this is an incredible big fat hoax set up by those who want to make some more money by playing with our fear?

Congrats on all those serious newspaper and media guys and girls and congrats to the UK government which announced today that they have placed an order of 32 million surgery masks.
I hope those masks are meant to stop viruses and not bacterias. And I hope that the government knows the difference between the two of them. (viruses are a lot smaller then bacterias )

Also, why the did the UK Government order only 32 million? Did I miss something on the last population census? I states clearly 60,975,00 inhabitants in the United Kingdom. So, please, I beg those other 27 odd million...Run!!

I wonder what comes next? Hmm, probably something like Kangaroo Flu...or better Fish Flu
You all going to have to take compulsory vaccinations which you have to pay for and also folks, if your fashion does not apply to the rules of the latest Swine Flu code...you will probably be put down...Only as a form of precaution. So, please let me see you wearing those masks and please buy some proper Swine Flu fashion.

Anyways, I am happy that during my last hours on Planet Earth I am able to dedicate my time to the entire Swine Flu community.

Let me think what was big in this year so far.....ok, we had the CREDIT CRUNCH...now we have the SWINE FLU...I bet we are going to have at least one more big thing this year.

Many thanks again to all the News and Media guys. You are great! You all deserved you University degrees and job titles...

ok, that was it from me. I am already dressed up in a pink dress and I wearing a Swine Flu mask....Just in case

Talk to you again from Swine Flu heaven.

Swine Flu and out :)
